After receiving a referral, you will visit a physical therapist (PT) or occupational therapist (OT) for a comprehensive mobility evaluation. This evaluation will determine the specific type of custom wheelchair and features you require based on your daily needs and medical condition.

Once the physical therapist (PT) or occupational therapist (OT) completes the evaluation, they will send their findings back to your doctor. Your doctor will review and sign off on the evaluation, providing a formal prescription for the custom wheelchair, which is needed for insurance purposes.

With your doctor’s prescription in place, Home Medix will schedule an appointment with our Assistive Technology Professional (ATP). The ATP will meet with you to perform a custom wheelchair fitting, ensuring that the chair is tailored to your exact specifications for maximum comfort and functionality.
