What respiratory equipment and supplies can I use at home?
At home, you can use CPAP and BiPAP machines, oxygen concentrators and cylinders, nebulizers, and pulse oximeters. You also reorder supplies for each one, such as masks, cushions, filters, nasal cannulas, tubing, and nebulizer kits. Home Medix offers more than 1,500 of these products to choose from.
What is the difference between a nebulizer and an oxygen concentrator?
A nebulizer delivers medicine, while an oxygen concentrator delivers oxygen. A nebulizer turns liquid medicine into a mist you breathe through a mouthpiece or mask. An oxygen concentrator pulls oxygen from room air and sends it through a nasal cannula, often for hours a day.
Does Medicare or insurance cover respiratory supplies?
Medicare Part B covers CPAP supplies, home oxygen, and nebulizers with a prescription and medical records from your doctor. It pays for replacements on a fixed schedule. We work with over 80 insurance providers, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and UnitedHealthcare.
How do I order respiratory supplies through my insurance?
To shop with your insurance, we must first verify your coverage and eligibility. You need your prescription, both sides of your insurance card, and medical records from your doctor, sent to orders@homemedix.com or faxed to (888) 553-0051. Start your coverage check online, and our insurance team takes it from there. If you're eligible, submit your order and our insurance team follows up within 1 to 2 business days. Don't see your plan? Request that we add your insurance.
Do I need a prescription to buy CPAP masks, oxygen supplies, or a nebulizer?
You need a prescription for CPAP and BiPAP machines, oxygen concentrators, and complete CPAP masks. Most cushions, filters, and cannulas do not need one. Each product page shows whether a prescription is required. Email or fax it within 5 days of placing your order, or reply to your order email with your doctor's name and fax number, and we request it.
How often should I replace my CPAP, oxygen, and nebulizer supplies?
Replace your supplies on the schedule your equipment's manufacturer recommends in the product instructions. As a guide, Medicare covers a new full face mask every 3 months and a new cushion every month. The American Lung Association recommends a new nasal cannula every 2 to 4 weeks.
How much do respiratory supplies cost?
Most CPAP, oxygen, and nebulizer supplies at Home Medix cost under $90, and half cost $17 or less. Nasal cannulas start at $1.99, and complete CPAP masks cost $66 to $331. Nebulizer machines start at $28, and oxygen concentrators cost $729 to $1,565. Covered items may cost $0 with insurance.
Can I pay for respiratory equipment and supplies with my FSA or HSA card?
Many CPAP masks, cannulas, and nebulizer kits we sell can be paid for with an FSA or HSA card. The IRS counts supplies that treat a medical condition as medical expenses. Products marked FSA/HSA accepted accept your card at checkout. Unsure about an item? Chat with us or call our specialists at (888) 229-3792.
Can I get my respiratory supplies delivered automatically?
Subscribe & Save delivers your supplies automatically, as often as you need them. Change or cancel anytime from your account, or call our specialists at (888) 229-3792.
How fast will my supplies ship?
We ship most orders within 1 to 2 business days of receiving them, and delivery usually takes 2 to 5 business days. Orders of $50 or more ship free within the contiguous United States. Every order ships by standard ground service, and you get a tracking link by email.
Can I return supplies after I open them?
For hygiene reasons, you cannot return opened supplies that touch your face or breath, such as masks, cushions, cannulas, and filters. You can return unopened items within 30 days in their original packaging after we approve the return. We replace defective, damaged, or incorrect items at no cost.
